3000 nights POSTER + awards

Mai Masri (Babylon 2009) continues to enjoy success with her début feature film 3000 Nights starring Maisa Abd Elhadi and Nadera Omran, and currently on tour in France.   Since its world première at Toronto IFF last September, the film – which tells the story of Palestinian schoolteacher Layal who brings up her newborn son inside the Israeli prison where she is falsely imprisoned –  has been in the Official Selections at Busan, London, Palm Springs, Dubai and Stockholm, with jury awards at Washington IFF and the WIFTS (Women’s International Film and Television Showcase) in the US, and audience awards from many other festivals.

Mai was recently the subject of a special feature programme on Al-Mayadeen television, which includes an interview with Gareth Jones about Babylon’s script collaboration on 3000 Nights.   You can watch it here on YouTube.

Tereza Kotyk (Babylon 2011) is currently in post-production with her début feature film Home is Here shot in Tirol and produced by Austrian producer Gabriele Kranzelbinder.   Against the striking backdrop of the Innsbruck Olympic Village, the film tells the story of Hannah who repeatedly breaks into the house of obsessive sportsman Max, to secretly live out her personal dreams.  The highly self-controlled homeowner starts to notice changes in his private space and a tender game begins between two lonely souls in the search for personal fulfilment.

TirolWerbung_662619The film stars stars Anna Åström and Stipe Ercegis and is scheduled for completion during the summer of 2016.
