International Village at Cannes

International Village at Cannes

Babylon has just completed the second workshop of this year’s programme with a packed four days of market activity and intensive networking interspersed with parties and special events, based at the beach-side European Pavilion of the International Village.

Participants combined one-to-one script and project consultations with Babylon seminar events such as Making International Films that Travel with Mariette Rissenbeek, MD of German Films, and Oscar-Nominated author/producer Fred Breinersdorfer, and The Role of the Festival in Launching your Film with Sanja Ravlic of the Croatian Audiovisual Center and Mirsad Purivatra, Artistic Director of the Sarajevo Film Festival. Filmmakers also had the chance to pitch their films to senior UK producer Damian Jones (Belle,The Iron Lady, Millions, Fast Girls).

Participants will now enter a mentored re-write phase in which they consolidate on partnerships made in Cannes, build their production plan and work on final drafts of their scripts, before meeting for the concluding session in London, in October.

Babylon 2015 is produced by Scenario Films, in co-production with Witcraft, and kindly funded by the Vienna Film Fund (FFW – Filmfonds Wien), Baden-Wuerttemberg Film Fund (MFG – Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany), with grant support from Creative Skillset UK, the Greek Film Center, and the Israeli Film Fund.
